The Financial Manager is responsible for providing financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support the company's travel and meeting and events programs. This includes budgeting, forecasting, identifying cost savings opportunities, advising on travel policy and vendor management, and KPI reporting to enable data-driven decision making. The Finance Manager works closely with the travel and events team, procurement, and business unit leaders to optimize the travel and events program and drive continuous improvement.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive budgets, forecasts, and financial models for the travel, and meetings and events programs
- Analyze spend data, contract terms, and other financial information to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to travel, and meetings and events (e.g. air/hotel/car spend, meeting attendance, cost per attendee, etc.)
- Engage in modeling alternative cost center structures.
- Work cross functionally to solution allocation of travel and event costs across businesses
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and track relevant KPIs that align with business objectives
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports and presentations for executive leadership
- Support contract negotiations and RFP processes by providing financial analysis and recommendations
- Research industry benchmarks and trends to inform strategic planning
- Implement financial controls and processes to ensure compliance and proper spend management
- Partner cross-functionally with travel, meetings, procurement, and other business units
- 5 years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 6 years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 6 years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- 6 years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6 years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
