Job description

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator for a local scrap yard in Selmer, TN. The hours are Monday – Friday 7 am – 5 pm and every other Saturday 7 am-noon. Must be able to lift 75lbs for a straight 10-hour shift.
 

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations creating a safe working environment.
• Follow instructions provided by a Foreman with daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
• Safely work around heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, cranes, etc.
• Inspect, maintain, and operate hand tools, power tools, and other various equipment.
• Set up and use GPS equipment and laser levels to accurately measure grade.
• Read, interpret, and follow plans, specifications, and other contract documents
• Communicate well with others on the job site both verbally and using hand signals.
• Demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Inspect crane mechanisms or lifting accessories and report equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the proper supervisor.
• Basic sorting of scrap metal and debris in preparation for processing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10-hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
