General Maintenance Supervisor jobs in Newark, NJ

Seeking a Maintenance Supervisor with food manufacturing for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Roseland, NJ. This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday (6:00am - 4:00pm).

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k!  

Salary is between $85,000 - $100,000 per year (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

• Utilizes problem solving and analytical skills to support the maintenance staff and provide support for capital improvements.
• Coordinates activities with other departments and business units to ensure continuity of operations.
• Assists with maintenance operational budgets according to plan.
• Provides leadership and direction to the maintenance work unit to ensure maximum efficiencies and ongoing development of the Preventive Maintenance program.
• Enforces safety and sanitation policies to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies.
• Develops and implements plans to control or reduce departmental costs and to increase efficiency by utilizing established methodology to improve production processes.
• Provides training and development for direct reports to meet business and personnel objectives and goals.
• Active participant on the plant manager’s staff supporting daily operations.
• Maintain the overall facility to be compliant to internal and external regulatory agencies.
• Responsible to ensure food safety/quality polices are followed, to report all food safety/quality problems out of their realm of responsibility to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
• Enforce and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Report all unsafe acts and unsafe working conditions to appropriate manager assuring resolution. 

Qualifications:

• 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment, with 3-5 years supervisory.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Knowledge of database structure is a plus. 
• Working knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.   
• Knowledge of Boilers
• Performs math operations to solve work-related problems.
• Understanding of GMP’s
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems associated with work processes by applying job specific knowledge.
• Ability to develop, train and manage all Maintenance employees.
• Ability to read and understand various set up/operational diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and manufacturing specifications as it relates to plant machinery and equipment. 
• Functional experience in use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
