Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Residential Counselor for Hudson Community Apartments (8 Green Acres Rd. Hudson, NY 12534), 2 Full Time: Friday and Saturday nights 8p-8a, Monday and Tuesday days 10a-6p. $20.00/hour for 40 hours a week. Thursday and Sunday 2p-12am, Friday and Saturday 10a-8p $20.00/hour 40 hours a week.
Residential Counselor for Columbia Street Apartments (900 Columbia Street, Hudson, NY 12534) Part Time: Saturday 4p-8p and Sunday 8a-12a. $20.00/hour for 20 hours a week.
Residential Counselor for High Cliff Terrace (30 High Cliff Terrace, Catskill, NY 12414) 1 Full Time position: Schedule to be determined, evenings and weekends, $20.00 per hour/40 hours a week.
Philmont Hearth (10 Maple Avenue, Philmont, NY 12565)1 Full Time position: Schedule to be determined, evenings and weekends, $20.00 per hour/40 hours a week.

The purpose of the Community Residence and the Single-Site Apartment Programs is to enhance options of participants for choosing, accessing, and maintaining preferred permanent housing, and to provide the support needed to maximize the recipient's successful integration into independent community living. The program relies on the participants to play an active role in both identifying their housing needs, and in actively pursuing the skills needed to succeed in this housing choice. The provision of the listed support services will allow participants to not only obtain permanent housing, but to remain in it by gaining skills needed to succeed in independent living. As requirements for each program is related to the level of need and assistance that participants require, staff will learn program regulations and provide services accordingly. The goal of both programs is to assist individuals in reaching the highest level of independence in the community that is possible for each person.
