Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. ARS is looking to add an experienced Counselor to the team!
Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays!
If interested in accessing treatment, counselor will transport potential client to ARS in ARS vehicle after being medically cleared to leave the scene/hospital
Provide a warm handoff to on-site peer specialist and push all data collected in the community to the potential client’s EMR record
