Mission – Why we exist and why we need you

Geothermal energy is a massive renewable energy resource sitting below our feet. There is 2,300 times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methane combined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal power the most affordable form of widely-deployable, 24/7, carbon-free generation on the planet.

Field data is Zanskar’s life blood; we rely on data collected by our field teams, working in conjunction with our geoscientists, seismologists, data scientists, and algorithms, to identify and characterize geothermal reservoirs. As a Junior Geologist, your primarily responsibility is to process and quality control field data, help plan field campaigns, and to help roll out new methods (including new data types) for our field teams. This position will also ensure that exploration and HS&E best practices are followed, and qualified candidates are expected to increasingly assume a more supervisory role of our field investigations after 3 months.

This position offers opportunities for multi-disciplinary collaboration and independent activity, while working with across multiples teams of professionals on a variety of projects to foster your professional growth and help us decarbonize electricity and heat. The ideal candidate is self-driven, detail oriented, highly organized, comfortable “wearing multiple hats”, and possesses the interpersonal and technical skills needed to push our field efforts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
