Our south Florida region is growing and hiring an environmental geologist/ engineer! We are looking for a motivated and energetic, Field Scientist/Geologist/ Engineer to support the South Florida region and be based in our Ft. Lauderdale, FL, or one of our other south Florida offices. Our south Florida team works on exciting projects including due diligence environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater assessments, industrial hygiene consulting, and site renovation work for property owners, developers, municipalities, financial institutions, architects and engineers. and construction clients, including many of the largest companies in the US.

    This position is for a staff level geological or environmental professional who will be responsible for undertaking project responsibilities to evaluate and interpret site history and regulatory agency files as part of due diligence (Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)) projects, soil and groundwater field and sampling data during Phase II ESA and site assessment projects, support and lead safety efforts on project sites, and develop conclusions concerning the environmental site conditions. The candidate will prepare reports to summarize findings, including historical site development, soil and groundwater analytical data, create maps of analytical results and groundwater flow direction, and support the team in development of additional reports for projects; develop plans and oversee field monitoring and testing of soil and groundwater, including site assessment and remedial undertakings, prepare written reports related to site investigations, assessments and remediation activities, conduct client interactions, assist with preparation of technical and cost proposals, and assist with managing project budgets. Projects may include site assessments from varied contaminants; environmental assessments including Phase I/II site assessments; and soil and groundwater remediation. In this position, the candidate must be able review historical information including aerial photographs, city directories, topographic maps), interpret and evaluate field and analytical data, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a knowledge of Florida soil and groundwater sampling protocols, working understanding of environmental regulations at the federal, state and local level.

    Essential Role and Responsibilities:
    • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Be watchful and a leader of safety concerns on all sites. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
    • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
    • Geologist/ Environmental Scientist responsible for sampling appropriate materials (soil, Vapor, groundwater) and reviewing analytical data. Provide recommendations for further assessment and/or remedial approach on medium sized projects with a variety of complexity.
    • Participates with more senior Geologists or Environmental Engineers on large, more complex projects.
    • Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
    • Phase I site assessments - site inspections, research and reporting
    • Installation of soil borings and monitoring wells
    • Collection of soil and groundwater samples; indoor air quality readings and building material samples.
    • Responsible for written field and final reports to clients for both small and large projects.
    • Evaluates laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
    • Serve as team member in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
    • Support preparation of technical and fee proposals
    • Lead site safety on project sites
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
    • Minimum 2-years' experience.
    • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
    • Ability to obtain a professional license (P.E., P.G.) is a plus
