    The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board Underground Storage Tank Section has an opening for an Engineering Geologist in the Los Angeles Coastal Unit. The position is located at 320 W. 4th St, Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90013.

    Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

    An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States that does meet accreditation standards must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service.     • Working experience related to the Underground Storage Tanks (UST) area.
    • Working experience related to the Oil and Gas field.
    • Experience and knowledge in the area of remediation technologies.

    Statement of Qualifications

    A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than two(2)pages in length, using Arial size 12, and normal margins.

    1. Describe your understanding of state and regional water quality regulations and policies pertaining to soil, soil vapor and groundwater impacts from unauthorized releases of hazardous chemicals and your training and experience applying laws and rules to sites that exceed water quality objectives.

    2. Describe your knowledge, experience, and training with performing environmental site inspections and collecting and interpreting soil, soil vapor, and groundwater data.

    3. Describe your knowledge, experience, and training with preparing and reviewing technical documents and correspondence in remediation technologies and system designs.

    4. Describe your experience communicating with a wide range of individuals, group, agencies, and the public on technical topics.

    5. Describe your experience and ability to work in a team environment and with a wide range of individuals, using clear communication, and the ability to work through difficult conversations with diplomacy and collaboration.
