  • Nevada Gold Mines is looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Underground Engineering department at our Leeville operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed visual inspections underground to identify rock hazards, provide expert recommendations, and monitor the performance of excavations.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform independent and thorough visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify potential rock hazards.
    • Provide professional recommendations and monitor the performance of mining excavations.
    • Adhere to and enforce Ground Control standards, maintaining a robust ground support QA/QC program, including rockbolt pull-testing and assessing the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of shotcrete and backfill.
    • Design ground support systems by utilizing rock mechanics properties when required.
    • Collect, analyze, and report geotechnical monitoring data, managing relevant databases effectively.
    • Contribute to the review and advisory process for mine and stope designs.
    • Facilitate ground control safety training programs for personnel.
    • Supervise consultants and contractors as needed to ensure compliance with geotechnical specifications.
    • Conduct geotechnical mapping underground and core logging for drill programs periodically.
    • Execute additional duties as required by the department.


    • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology is essential.
    • A minimum of 5-7 years of underground geotechnical experience, with a focus on geotechnical design work.
    • Proficiency with rock mass classification systems, geotechnical analysis, structural mapping, ground support design, and underground mining QA/QC programs.
    • Experience with geotechnical software packages is highly desirable.
    • Strong leadership skills complemented by excellent problem-solving abilities.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the capability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
    • Availability for flexible work hours, including on-call responsibilities and call-outs as necessary.
    • A collaborative team player who can also perform independently when required.
