    • Project site selection and map creation for new residential and commercial development projects
    • Database customization, creation of inspection forms and web apps to support data capture and analysis for transportation and utility asset management plans
    • Setup data using Esri Field Apps and train clients and staff on GPS field data collection methods to support a variety of project
    • Assist communities with developing award-winning turn-by-turn snowplow route programs to make snow removal more efficient and safe.
    • Converting old cemetery record data into custom mapping applications
    • Support communities with managing property boundary information
    • Finding creative new ways to solve old problems using GIS

    Summary:
    GIS technicians are responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing geospatial data. GIS technicians may also be expected to support external clients and users within the company. As a GIS Technician at Wightman, you will work as a team to create high-quality GIS products and services while continually innovating and exploring new areas of growth.
    Essential Functions:
    • Designing, developing, and maintaining various GIS databases and solutions
    • Perform GIS data quality control, including reviewing data for completeness and accuracy; identifying and correcting errors or omissions in the data
    • Acquiring new spatial data and integrating it into the organization’s GIS
    • General digitizing and maintenance of utilities, parcels, etc.
    • Developing and applying GIS analysis solutions to meet other project-specific needs
    • Support GIS users both internally and externally
    • Catalog and inventory GIS data, including metadata creation
    • Input, update, and maintain GIS databases
    • Research emerging technology and techniques
    • Generate professional maps, web maps, and applications
    Required Skills & Behaviors
    • Intermediate knowledge of ArcGIS 10 suite of products
    • Intermediate understanding of cartographic principles, practices, and techniques
    • Self-motivated
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
    • Creative problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask on a variety of projects
    • Ability to focus on repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, Etc.)

    • Direct reporting to the GIS manager
    • Team-based work requiring collaboration between co-workers
    Required Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, CIS, or a related field
    • 1 years working with Geographic Information Systems in a professional position
    Preferred Education/Experience:
    • Intermediate knowledge of ArcGIS Pro
    • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online data and maps
    • Working knowledge of Esri Field Apps
    Travel: Local/Regional travel as required
