Embark on a journey through the intricate landscapes of our world with GIS, the ultimate tool powering The National Map while co-leading a small team working to enhance the quality of elevation data and support various scientific research. As a member of the Geospatial Technical Services (GTS) Elevation Team, you will be supporting the US Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC). Specifically, you will be working to advance the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) and their mission to acquire and provide nationwide high-resolution lidar coverage to the public.
Become a cornerstone in upholding the integrity and dependability of elevation data. As a pivotal team member, you will be entrusted with the crucial task of guaranteeing accuracy, consistency, and adherence to rigorous quality standards of collected elevation measurements. Through a meticulous review and validation processes, you will play a vital role in crafting precise elevation models, digital terrain maps, and geospatial databases. Your work will form the bedrock for essential decision-making across diverse domains.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty
- 2-3 years of experience in the field or related area
- Handle large and complex Lidar data/point data within applications, including vector and raster elevation data
- Work extensively with GIS-based data, which constitutes a significant portion of the deliverables
- Collaborate closely with the team to verify validation efforts and rectify schema discrepancies.
- Offers suitable response strategies based on GIS analysis outcomes. Delivers maps and datasets to clients to complement the analysis.
