DIRECTOR-BULIDINGS & GROUNDS

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Buildings & Grounds

HIRING RATE: Commensurate with experience/qualifications

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: 40 hour work week – possible on-call

LOCATION OF POSITION: Various locations

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the supervision of maintenance staff, maintenance and repair of all county owned and leased buildings and structures, and obtaining cost estimates for repairs; must have the ability to inspect, schedule and organize preventative maintenance work, repairs and remodeling; must be able to effectively communicate with employees, contractors, department heads and elected officials involved in the maintenance and repair of buildings and care of the grounds; communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with other departments within County Government; oversee and manage budget for employees, supplies, materials and capital expenses; must be able to effectively manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree or 8 years equivalent experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Hepatitis B Vaccine eligible
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds
• Pre-employment drug test, background check and polygraph test required
