Government Affairs Manager implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Manager performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Government Affairs Manager creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Individual with a background in marketing and sales to promote and strengthen VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY. Responsibilities will include Partner Assistance Marketing, Tourism Development and Group Travel Sales, and Volunteer Coordination.
a. Work with Executive Director to develop a yearly marketing plan to be delivered to Executive Director in January each year
b. Work with Executive Director to design and carry out marketing initiatives
c. Monitor and abide by marketing budget. The budget is presented each month. Review directly with Executive Director each quarter
d. Market new and existing county assets
e. Design strategies to reach targeted potential visitors. Work with TDS to design packages and travel deals to reach these groups
f. Create marketing materials to promote the backwoods. backroads. backwaters
g. Design and execute email campaigns, social media and internet marketing opportunities- With training and research explain this process to MS
h. Work with Travel Development Specialist to Collect and record data from VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY partners, county trends and state trends
1. Partner Assistance
a. Work with VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY Partners to design responsible travel packages
b. Market Partner Travel Packages
i. Work with Marketing Specialist to market partner businesses and their specials, deals and packages.
c. Serve as the go to person for VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY partners
d. Visit and assist current VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY partners - Regularly
i. Present partners with current information, ideas and marketing ideas
e. Acquire new Partners
f. Sale advertising packages
i. Work with Marketing Specialist to develop Partner co-op packages
ii. Advise Executive Director weekly on partner needs
g. Educate partners on VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY functions and programs
h. Educate partners on tourism trends
i. Serve as a networking tool for VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY partners
j. Assist VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY partners in designing marketing plans
k. Keep updated information on all partners
i. Yearly form updates
ii. Current excel list of all partners
iii. Hour changes, price increases, ownership changes, closures
iv. Update partner listings on VISIT CLEARFIELD COUNTY website
l. Update all staff on new partners and partner changes
2. Tourism Development
a. Assist Executive Director with tourism development projects
b. Educate community about the Project funding program and the CCTP Grant program and its purpose to promote tourism
c. Work with private and civic groups to promote events and attractions
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field(s) – recreation management, Tourism, business, journalism or advertising. Working knowledge of Clearfield County, it’s communities and events.
