Job Description
Position: Outdoor Farm Tech
The scope of this position includes aiding in all processes involved in land management, plant care, propagation and harvest. It requires the individual to continuously learn the cultivation practices in place and understand how to execute them without supervision once trained.
Responsibilities include:
· Watering – this includes gauging soil moisture, water application measurements, mixing nutrients, filling reservoirs, understanding feed schedules, and logging feed history.
· Canopy management – topping, training, pruning, defoliating, and trellising
· Equipment Maintenance – cleaning and taking care of all equipment and tools used in cultivation.
· Foliar applications– both preventative and pest treatment foliars.
· Transplanting plants
· Brewing compost teas
· Organizing plant care workspaces
· Aiding in plant propagation efforts as needed
· Irrigation systems maintenance for indoor, greenhouse, and outdoor farms
· Machinery maintenance and winterization
· Farm field maintenance and prep (i.e. tractor usage, tilling, mowing, etc.)
· Outdoor farm product and equipment inventories and storage
As a cultivation team member, you will work closely with your team and manager to ensure that projects are completed on time, plant health is maintained, and problems are addressed. The position requires a strong work ethic including skills such as clear communication, note taking (if necessary), time management, and overall drive to accomplish goals.
