The Art Department at Fei Tian College – Middletown, NY invites applications for an adjunct instructor position to teach a 3-credit course in our Fine Arts and Design BFA program, ART221 Graphic Design Psychology. The course will be offered in the Fall 2024 semester. It is a lecture course for students with a concentration in Graphic Design.

The candidate is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that agrees with the College’s mission and values. We prefer in-person teaching, but will also consider hybrid and online modalities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Evaluating and selecting instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration, as appropriate, with the Department.
• Providing academic instruction to students through studio and/or lecture courses.
• Observing and evaluating student performance in meeting course objectives, and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations.
• Providing feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours.
• Maintaining current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes.
• Preparing and submitting assessment data and reports related to the course and student progress in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders in a composed and professional manner, contributing to a positive educational and working environment.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

• Master's degree in graphic design or a closely-related field;
• Teaching experience on similar courses at the college level highly preferred;
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• Organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• A positive and caring attitude and willingness to extend self to help students succeed;
• Ability to motivate students from a broad spectrum of backgrounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $700.00 - $800.00 per month

Expected hours: 2.5 – 5 per week
