TITLE: Graphic and Web Design Specialist

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PAY GRADE: Grade 70 ($3354-$4480/Month)

REPORTS TO: Printing Services Manager

JOB GOAL: Maintain the Visual Identity of Johnston County Public Schools by designing, printing, and producing high quality images. As the Graphic Design Specialist, the candidate will work closely with the Coordinator of Image and Graphic Design on various projects for the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ideal candidate is proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud Apps: Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design preferred, associate’s degree in graphic design required
• At least 2 years of experience in a graphic or visual design field
• Ability to function independently with minimal oversight

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in graphic design projects using Adobe Creative Cloud Apps
• Skilled in desktop publishing and able to create books, forms, and multiple types of designs as the need arises
• Produce and distribute multimedia content for traditional and modern platforms
• Manage high volume printing needs
• Maintain and follow all Visual Identity Guidelines for the district
• Price and invoice printing jobs using Google Forms and Spreadsheets
• Assist with photography activities for the school system
• Operate all equipment, gear and software vital to the design and printing process. Including but not limited to a paper folder, cutting machine and various cutting tools, laminating machine, wide format printer, perforating machine, and printers/copiers.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of industry standards and evolving technology
• Deliver printed materials to district’s schools and campuses as needed
• Assist with the planning and implementation of school system special events, including those on weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Active participant in JCPS Communication Team
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time and carry audio/visual equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
• Ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence.
• Ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess a valid NC driver’s license.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, teachers, students, administrators, community leaders, agency representatives and others.
