    Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. The Swamp Cafe is a fun and fast paced environment focused on serving delicious food with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. The Assistant Cafe Manager is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Cafe under supervision of the Cafe manager. The major accountability of the Assistant Cafe Manager is to continuously focus on meeting and exceeding guests’ expectations with exceptional food, coffee and service as a primary goal while keeping up the employee morale, work ethic and overall cleanliness of the cafe.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Assists Cafe manager with day-to-day operations, supervision of staff, and upkeep of Cafe
    • Assumes responsibility of overall Cafe operations in absence of the Cafe manager
    • Helps manage and track labor by writing effective schedules, allocating hours scheduled to most necessary tasks, sending staff home when

    slow and tracking/approving timesheets

    • Capable of performing every function in the cafe to properly supervise operations and drive efficiencies
    • Monitors quality of food and maintains high standards of guest service including to help develop metrics for guest satisfaction and ticket times

    • Maintains awareness of product levels and communicates anticipated needs to Cafe and Kitchen leadership to prevent Out of Stocks; updates

    • Creates prep lists to best reflect needs and ensures ingredients are stocked and available; assists in prep work when needed
    • Operates a variety of specialized food service equipment, i.e. espresso machine, coffee brewer, conveyor oven; maintains extensive knowledge

    of coffee brewing and espresso techniques

    • Conducts training of all new staff; contributes to employee performance reviews by providing constructive feedback and setting growth

    • Handles conflict, both with customers or staff, with maturity and respect; knows when to elevate a situation to Cafe Manager, GM or HR
    • Helps develop metrics for measuring guest satisfaction and works to improve results
    • Assists Cafe manager with ordering as assigned
    • Performs calmly and effectively in a fast-paced work environment and makes efficient use of downtime for self and staff
    • Ensures a sanitary line and workstations (including cutting boards, floor, trash, slicer, and bread and coffee areas); performs general

    maintenance (preventative and other) of the facility and equipment

    • Communicates and trains new recipes and items to staff
    • Assists with preparing catering orders when needed
    • Assists with maintaining procedures for cost, waste, and quality control
    • Assisting with ensuring each shift is staffed optimally and that breaks are taken at optimum times
    • Communicates regularly with other managers regarding needs, successes, and customer input
    • Generates fun and excitement with an upbeat personality and positive attitude to help ensure a good work environment and customer

    • Is a hands-on leader who isn't afraid to get sweaty
    • Works closely and collaboratively with all Swamp Departments
    • Establishes and maintains good business and community relations
    • Helps us grow, without losing the magic

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • 1-3 years restaurant experience and/or customer service business required
    • Experience managing a budget and staff required
    • Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel and be willing to learn and use the Entrepreneurial Operating System
    • Must be available to work mornings, nights and weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
    • Must agree to background check
    • Must have a high school diploma
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy
    • Must wear closed-toe, slip resistant shoes with a Coefficient of Friction rating between 0.54 and 0.76. Coefficient of Friction rating is

    the measure of traction for slip resistant shoes and generally shoes labeled for commercial kitchen use fall into this category
    (examples of brands include but are not limited to Tredsafe, SafeTStep, Sketchers for Work).

    • Must communicate by Paylocity, Slack, Asana and email
    • Complies to and ensures compliance of all related food safety, health & sanitation regulations, workplace safety, and weights and measures

    according to SCDHEC, other applicable laws and company policies and regulations as necessary.

    • Takes initiative to help any area of the business if possible

    ESSENTIAL SAFETY SKILLS - WORK ENVIRONMENT

    SRCG requires that PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety shoes, gloves, etc. be used or worn by employees whenever workplace hazards are discovered that could damage any part of the body to eliminate and/or reduce the hazards employees face in their daily job duties. PPE will not be used as a substitute for safe work practices, machine guards, or other controls. PPE is to be used in conjunction with these controls to increase employee protection.
