    The Manager of Group Benefits Underwriting & Analytics is responsible for overseeing our Health and Welfare Underwriting team in Troy, MI. This person will be responsible for leading and training the team on the underwriting, analysis, and benchmarking process for current and prospective clients throughout the lifecycle of the RFP and renewal process to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial analytics. 

    Requirements

    • Ownership of the underwriting process for the agency including but not limited to; Request for Proposals (RFPs), census collection, market analysis, plan and contract reviews, contribution strategy, carrier negotiations, and plan/invoice audits 
    • Supervision of the Analyst team including both Junior and Senior Financial Analysts
    • Responsible for a book of business typically large group experience-rated or self-funded
    • Provide and/or identify training and professional development opportunities for the Analytics team, including agency management system
    • Actively assign, track, and document the renewal process in our agency management system 
    • Understand and illustrate the impact of current regulations on our client’s benefits package
    • Ownership of the team’s timely and accurate data for client deliverables and appropriate documentation in the agency management system
    • Provide support to other colleagues to assist in special projects as needed or work on special client projects as assigned
    • Attend industry training to develop and maintain an exceptional understanding of the employee benefits industry
    • Development of carrier relationships to aid in negotiating pricing and contract terms
    • Contribute to agency leadership initiatives and growth strategies 
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Experience 

    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills as well as attention to detail
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe
    • Understanding of agency database systems
    • Experience using carrier quoting systems
    • Knowledge of insurance carriers, employee benefits, and underwriting procedures

     Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of five years of Analyst experience in the employee benefits industry
    • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
    • Completion of CSFS® and/or demonstrated proficiency in self-funded arrangements
    • License in Group, Health, and Life
