POSITION SUMMARY: How You Will Make an Impact
Are you ready to lead and innovate in the manufacturing industry? We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineering Manager to plan, organize, and manage our Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Support functions. Your role will be to provide engineering direction for our assembly and manufacturing processes, focusing on systems, standards, and tooling to achieve maximum production efficiency, high-quality standards, and cost-effectiveness.- Lead Daily Operations: Provide day-to-day direction to the Manufacturing Engineering Department to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Performance Tracking: Generate and present management reports that track performance against both short-term and long-term goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and Kaizen activities, including the creation of visual indicators of operating conditions.
- Optimize Production Equipment: Develop, design, specify, test, and maintain records for production equipment, tooling, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to optimize manufacturing processes for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Enhance Efficiency: Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- CAPEX Development: Develop capital equipment requests (CAPEX) for assembly and manufacturing projects.
- Project Management: Manage assembly and manufacturing projects from inception to completion.
- Design and Analysis: Design and analyze labor and space requirements, product design, quality requirements, workflow, and equipment layout to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Equipment and Maintenance: Work with the maintenance team and outside contractors to improve current equipment and processes, enhance performance, and minimize downtime.
- Design Support: Provide design support for various manufacturing projects.
- Regular Updates: Keep leadership regularly updated on key metrics and progress of each project.
- MUST HAVE:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the truck body or similar sheet metal fabrication industry is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in leading a team of manufacturing, industrial, and technical support engineers and providing maintenance and facilities support.
- Demonstrated experience in launching production lines and specifying automated processes.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) is preferred.
- Proficiency with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to influence and engage peers and direct reports in problem-solving activities.
- Skilled in using SolidWorks or other 3D modeling applications and the MS Office suite.
