Hard Tile Setter covers tabletops or other surfaces with mosaic tile squares to form decorative design. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Hard Tile Setter may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Hard Tile Setter relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Duties: Performs manual work in tile installation, floor covering installation, maintenance, and repair.
Work involves the performance of skilled tile installation and floor covering tasks by maintaining, repairing, and applying tile, blocks, strips, or sheets of shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, or decorative covering to floors, walls, and cabinets. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although routine repairs are usually made independently without supervision or review.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the tile and floor covering trades.
Ability to read and understand construction plans, sketches, visual instructions, and layouts.Bruns Construction Benefits
