    POSITION SUMMARY

    Chadwick School is looking for an enthusiastic, On Call Seasonal Athletic Trainer to deliver a high-level standard of care for our student-athletes. Applicants must be able to work collaboratively with the athletic director, students, coaches, and doctors to foster a positive and supportive environment for our student-athletes that need treatment, rehabilitation, or other injury-related attention.


    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


    The primary responsibilities include:


    • Prevention, assessment, and treatment of athletic injuries
    • Providing athletic training coverage for home competitions, away football games, and playoff contests whenever possible
    • Administering first-aid healthcare to middle and upper school students, faculty, and staff
    • Ensuring compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations and maintains NATA and CPR certification in accordance with those institutions
    • Collaborating with injured athletes' physician when needed
    • Referring athletes for further evaluation when necessary
    • Acting as a liaison and facilitates communication between physicians and/or specialists, athletes and their parents, coaches, and administration concerning health and physical status of student-athlete
    • Overseeing Concussion Management Protocol. Serve as a liaison between team physician, school nurse, Athletic Director, Dean of Students and parents
    • Verifies, in conjunction with Athletic Director and School Nurse, that all athletes are eligible and healthy to participate which includes tracking and reviewing that all necessary medical paperwork and authorization forms are completed and conforms to the school’s rules and expectations
    • Responsibility for supplying water to all practices on campus and to both home and away teams during home competitions
    • Maintaining accurate records of injuries, and treatments
    • Providing sports teams with a first aid kit and Emergency Release Authorization forms
    • Submitting insurance claim forms for injuries treated by a physician
    • Acting as First Aid team leader for Emergency Operations
    • Assisting School Nurse with injury evaluations during the school day when requested
    • Maintaining an organized, safe and clean athletic training room and oversee annual safety inspection of therapeutic modalities
    • Maintaining athletic training policies and procedures
    • Reviewing the Emergency Action Plan for Athletics and reviewing the plan with coaching staff
    • Performing other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS


    The Athletic Trainer should:

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in athletic training or health related field; Master’s degree preferred
    • Current NATABOC Certification
    • Current CPR/AED Certification; prefer CPR, AED and First Aid Instructor Certification
    • Valid California Driver's License with safe driving record
    • Proficient computer skills
    • 3-5 years’ work experience as a certified athletic trainer in a school, college or similar related setting


    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

    • Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
    • Occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
    • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
    • May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
    • Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for approximately 6-8 hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
