The Assistant Teacher supports the teacher in planning, implementing and maintaining a nurturing and supportive educational program for participating children. All Assistant Teachers will need to obtain their Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) within the first two years of employment or have an Associates of Art Degree in Early Childhood or a related field.

· Support and monitor classroom activities to ensure compliance with Performance Standards

· Provide assistance to all daily classroom activities

- Assist the teacher in preparing, developing and arranging the materials that serve as motivation

for the child’s self-development.

- Assist the teacher in all learning areas.

- Be aware of maintaining child/staff ratio at all times.

· Work with SCICAP Early Childhood Program’s families

- Make first home visit with teacher and any additional home visits, if necessary.

- Provide an educational environment following the Creative Curriculum to ensure school readiness.

- Can attend Parents Meetings when asked by the teacher director

- Assist Teacher or Teacher/Director in the recruitment of children

· Keep accurate up to date records

- Secure signed volunteer forms

- Assist with preparation of volunteer calendar and send home to parents

- Document family communications in ChildPlus

· Nutrition and Health Responsibilities

- Supervise meal times following the Performance Standards and Creative Curriculum

- Role model tooth brushing with the children one (1) time daily

- Role model swishing with the children, one (1) time daily.

- Be aware of and alert for Health and Safety issues at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be 18 year of age

· No personal record regarding child abuse, sexual abuse and neglect (DCI)

· Current physical for start of employment and then every three years

· Required fingerprinting every 4 years

EDUCATION

· Must have a high school diploma or GED

· Must have A CDA or willing to get one within one to two years of employment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $12.97 per hour
