TREC-Badlands Head Start: Prenatal to Five is seeking a high energy, self-motivated, and professional individual to work as an Early Childhood Education/Disabilities Specialist. This individual will be coordinating early childhood education services to pregnant women, infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families. In addition, this individual will serve as early childhood education curriculum specialist for both pre-school centers and home-based programs. Job duties include conducting developmental screenings, monitoring lesson plans, supporting staff in working with children with special needs, coordinating with entities providing special education services, conducting classroom and home visit observations, and subbing in classrooms as needed. A passion for early childhood education and development, and experience working successfully with a team are necessary. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a BA/BS in Early Childhood. However, a related degree with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood and experience teaching pre-school children will meet requirements. In addition to education requirements, strong communication skills, familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel), experience working with families of diverse cultures, and a valid driver’s license are required. Preference is given to individuals with Head Start experience. This is a 40 hour per week, 52 weeks per year position. Applicants are subject to background checks and drug screening. This position will be located in Belle Fourche, South Dakota for office coordination with travel to sites as necessary. We provide a competitive salary and benefit package.
