Head Nurse - CCU jobs in Dallas, TX

Head Nurse - CCU directs nursing service activities for assigned critical/coronary care unit patients. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and critical care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of critical care unit patient clinical records, and writes reports on critical care unit staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - CCU maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - CCU typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - CCU manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - CCU typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Essential Functions

    • Assesses and evaluates patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
    • Develops, discusses and communicates a plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family to address identified needs.
    • Evaluates the patient's response to care provided; modifies care upon response elicited.
    • Coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for psychiatric patients through the use of the nursing process.

    Qualifications

    • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing 
    • A minimum of three years of experience in nursing, substance disorders and/or behavioral health is preferred.
    • Requires intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and intermediate knowledge of electronic medical record documentation/utilization in a paperless setting.
    • Must hold a current Registered Nurse license.
    • BLS certification is required upon hire.
    • ACLS certification is required within 6 months of hire.
    • PALS certification is required within 6 months of hire.
    • De-escalation training is required within 30 days of hire.
