Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Being a Head Nurse - Nursing Home ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Additionally, Head Nurse - Nursing Home requires a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school. Requires a valid state RN license. Typically reports to a top management. Skilled nursing care includes: Tracheostomy care, mechanical ventilation, continuous oxygen therapy, respiratory treatments, enteral care/nutrition, medication management, assist with transfers and repositioning, assist with ADL's.
