Job Title: Registered Nurse Operating Room

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse Operating Room to join our healthcare team. The role of the Registered Nurse Operating Room is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of surgical care to patients. In this role, you will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality perioperative care. Your expertise in patient assessment, infection control, and surgical procedures will help ensure positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.

2. Collaborate with the surgical team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

3. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.

4. Assist the surgeon during procedures by providing surgical instruments, supplies, and proper handling of surgical specimens.

5. Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist or surgeon.

6. Monitor and document patient vitals, fluid balance, and surgical site to identify any changes in condition.

7. Ensure sterile techniques are followed to prevent infection and promote patient safety.

8. Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, postoperative care, and potential complications.

9. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.

10. Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including medical history, medication administration, and surgical outcomes.

11. Stay updated with the latest advancements in surgical procedures, techniques, and equipment.

12. Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards in healthcare practice.

13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and workflow efficiency.

14. Provide emotional support to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or anxieties.

15. Ensure adherence to infection control policies and enforce a clean and safe surgical environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent required.

2. Valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment.

3. Minimum of two years of experience in an operating room or surgical setting preferred.

4. Advanced knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques.

5. Proficient in assessing and monitoring patients' vital signs and conditions.

6. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the surgical team.

8. Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks efficiently.

9. Detail-oriented and organized, with strong documentation skills.

10. Strong understanding of infection control practices and a commitment to patient safety.

11. Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and prioritize urgent cases.

12. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

13. Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

14. Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting during surgical procedures.

15. Adherence to professional standards and commitment to continued professional development.
