Opus Packaging has a summer internship opening for a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Health and Safety [EHS] Intern. 

This internship opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of EHS within a manufacturing setting. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of EHS including hazard risk evaluation, building a safety culture, and executing EHS data management systems while applying your academic knowledge to real-world situations.

In addition to working on EHS-related projects, you may also have the opportunity to rotate through different departments within the company to gain a comprehensive understanding of our operations. This will provide you with a well-rounded experience and insight into the various functions of our organization.

What you need to be successful at Opus Packaging:

• 2 years of college completed in the study of environment, health, or safety.
• Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong leadership and business acumen skills
• Able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Independent judgment and decision-making ability.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• An OSHA 10- or 30-hour certificate preferred 

Responsibilities could include:

• Revising the Hazard Communication Policy and Safety Data Sheet Database system.
• Updating safety policies
• Collaborating on safety gap analyses (JSA, Haz-Op, HOP, etc.).
• Coordinating with manufacturing on all projects to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Investigating safety incidents and near-misses.  
• Acting as liaison for weekly corporate safety meetings.
• Facilitating and planning safety training for new and existing employees.
