Position: Teacher for mixed High School Science and Math

Job Description:
Koan School is currently accepting applications/resumes for a full-time Teacher for a mixed High School classroom for the campus in Denton, Tx at $43,680 a year. Teacher will be in charge of a maximum of 15-30 students

The Koan School:
Koan School is a non-profit private school serving students in K - 12th grade. Our mission is to provide a low-cost alternative for private education while keeping class sizes small enough to accommodate the diverse interests and skills of young learners in our community.
The school is located on a beautiful 15-acre farmstead, complete with animals, natural ponds, and woods for exploring. The main building on the property was converted from a single-family home into a charming 5-room school-house.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Flexibility to meet with families for PT conferences

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required from accredited university/college
• Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred, but not required, with training for subject and level assigned
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school's curriculum program
• Demonstrate competency in the core subject area
• Passion for mentoring students
• Ability to instruct student and manage classroom instruction
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• At least 2 years of teaching experience

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in campus faculty development meetings
• Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
• Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of the Koan School
• Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s) assigned within school standards, curriculum, and student needs while modeling and instilling a love of learning
• Plans, prepares, and delivers diverse lesson plans, teaching methodologies, instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning in order to meet the individual needs of students
• Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in line with disciplinary systems of the school
• Participates in campus staff development and serves on staff committees
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by the Koan School
• Prepares required reports on students and activities
• Assigns and grades classwork, homework, tests, and assignments
• Takes daily attendance
• Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Maintains professional relationships with colleagues
• Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Maintains cleanliness of classroom
• Performs other duties as assigned
