The High School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Prepares lesson plans and instructs adolescents. Being a High School Teacher some states require that teachers be certified. Requires a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. In addition, High School Teacher is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to the principal. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in assigned sport(s). Contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate
Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical for CDL
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Coaching and/or participant experience in sport assigned
