Histology Technician jobs in Maine

Ghost RX is currently looking for a Histology Technician or Histology Technologist to work full-time hours, Monday - Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm on a contract position for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, ME. A travel rate is available to those who qualify. Qualified candidates will receive a job offer in a couple of business days and start as soon as credentialed.

Ideal Candidate:

Minimum 3 years of Histology experience

HTL/HT nationally certified is preferred, but not required

Duties:
- Perform specimen collection processing, including receiving, accessioning, and labeling tissue samples
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting them on slides
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microtomes, tissue processors, and staining machines
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent results
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination of samples
- Maintain accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper sample handling and interpretation of results
- Assist with quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory tests

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $1,500.00 - $2,200.00 per week
