Hospice Director directs, supervises, and governs the hospice program including inpatient care, home care and bereavement follow-up. Administers and maintains quality assurance, environmental, and infection control policies in accordance with facility objectives. Being a Hospice Director prepares reports for hospital administration on activities of the facility operation. Develops hospice related educational and informational programs. Additionally, Hospice Director requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. The Hospice Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Hospice Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     As the Director of Clinical Services, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our Site Administrator and clinical teams to contribute to the Brighton mission. Our passionate team members will depend on you to lead our clinical team and support an environment where our patients and their families receive the highest level of care.

    On an average day, you will

    • Site Leadership Team: Serve as an essential member of site’s leadership team, informing and conferring with Site Administrator on patient, personnel, and service management issues and concerns; Collaborate with Aide/CNA Coordinators to develop, implement, and monitor Hospice Aide/CNA training, charting, and competency programs; Act as site leader in Site Administrator’s absence
    • Patient Care Plans: Orchestrate interdisciplinary assessment, development, communication, implementation, management, documentation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans meeting and exceeding patient physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, under the direction of the Medical Director
    • Clinical Team Staffing: Proactively interview, hire, and onboard compassionate and skilled clinical team members to ensure staffing levels are sufficient to meet patient census needs
    • Performance Management & Development: Mentor clinical team leadership and team members to ensure performance expectations are met; Stay personally informed about improvements, updates, and changes in the field of nursing, other clinical services, and the hospice industry; Share information via meetings and in-service trainings with appropriate team members discussing issues, concerns, victories,and key performance indicators
    • Patient & Community Support: Prepare and submit documentation of observations, findings, and services provided including phone and in-office case conferences with the medical director, physicians, other disciplines, patients, and families
    • Field and direct resolution of escalated complaints made by healthcare providers, caregivers, patients, and patient families regarding care and services, personnel, and/or policy; Confer with Site Administrator when needed for resolution

    Desired Skills/Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's degree (BSN)
    • License: Active RN license in the state you are applying
    • Experience: At least 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice
    • Preferably 1 year of direct leadership experience
