About Welch, West Virginia
Welch is a city located in McDowell County in the State of West Virginia. The population was 2,406 at the 2010 census. Incorporated as a city in 1893, it is the county seat of McDowell County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.04 square miles (15.64 km2), of which, 6.01 square miles (15.57 km2) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water.
