JOB PURPOSE At Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, Human Resources (HR) is focused on understanding what team members need and knowing how to provide it. We are in search of a qualified and resourceful HR Generalist to support our HR department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations supporting our Life Plan community, Senior Options, WCAH and our other business operations. Reporting to the Sr. Director of HR and Compliance, the HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping us to plan and administer important functions, such as team member relations, training and development, educational assistance, benefits administration, HRIS, policy development and interpretation, and general HR functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in developing and executing HR procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
• Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
• Assist in administering, compensation, and team member performance programs
• Suggest and assist in developing new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole to maintain compliance, and to improve team member experience
• Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
• Administer WeCare connect team member survey tool
• Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to leaders and team members in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other team member-relations matters
• Assist in  the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of team member guidebook, , and contributes to the development of policies
• Develops and delivers leadership and team member training as needed
• Serve as liaison with Benefits 
• All Other Duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 of more years in equivalent HR Generalist position
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field 
• PHR,SPHR or SHRM certification
• Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
• Advanced knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
• Knowledge of Virginia State and Federal HR laws and regulations
• Knowledge of UKG (Ultipro), Relias, WeCare Connect,  a plus
• Life Plan, Health Care or Long Term Care experience preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Office environment
• Lifting less than 25 lbs
• Use a computer 85% of each day
