The Director, Human Resource Operations is responsible for the leadership of the core HR functional processes, collaborating with leaders, key stakeholders, and team members to drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, talent development and compliance through process. Primary responsibilities include the leadership of HR processes including performance management, total rewards administration (including benefit administration and relationship management with key providers), technology strategy, compliance activities, HR data reporting, monitoring of the quality and consistency of HR services provided, as well as serving as a trusted resource to the organization.
As the Director, HR Operations, you will:
Serve as a key member of the HR Leadership Team, enabling the success of GreatAmerica through modern practices and approaches that attract, retain, develop, and care for talent throughout the employee lifecycle
Optimizes daily workflow and HR processes to meet evolving business needs and develop solutions that meet objectives
Partner with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP) to ensure smooth execution, consistent application, and risk management across GreatAmerica and through HR processes and programs
Serve as a trusted expert in HR related matters
Ensure HR policies and procedures are current, reflect best practice and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations in a multi-state environment
Set and monitor HR budget/ROI of activities
Ensure proper preparation and timely filing of compliance/reporting requirements
Partner with external providers of services to coordinate services and ensure total reward offerings are in alignment with GreatAmerica’s strategy. This includes interfacing with 401k and benefit providers as well as interfacing with internal partners in Accounting to drive alignment and high-quality decisions
Oversee and implement HR controls – ensure appropriate documentation, processes, and audit approaches are in place to safeguard sensitive information and meet compliance expectations
Use data driven insights to assess HR effectiveness and make informed decisions/recommendations for improvement
Research and implement targeted technologies or automations to improve effectiveness and scale of HR services
Create and maintain HR Capability Dashboard – review progress to key goals, quality, and efficiency indicators
Serve as primary strategic partner to the Payroll Team assisting with payroll needs, requests, and coordination to ensure maximum effectiveness, accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration between the two teams
Serve as primary partner to GreatAmerica’s Compliance Team to proactively ensure HR compliance activities follow local, state, and national laws and regulations
Recruit, lead, and continually develop team members that deliver high quality HR services
Partner with facilities and operations to support ongoing workspace planning needs of our physical locations
Develop and deploy a HR Technology Strategy that meets the needs of a scaling organization
Serve as a power user of our HR Technology Platforms
Cultivate a lifecycle approach to talent management focused on development, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning and talent retention in partnership with Organization Development and Learning
Coach leaders on key organizational and leadership issues
Oversee employee relations matters, if applicable - ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures while mitigating risk

Education
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (or equivalent)
Experience
At least five years of experience in payroll, benefits, technology, and compliance operations, with at least three years in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance matters
Workday experience preferred, but not required
