Under limited direction, the Industrial Electrician performs experienced and highly skilled electrical and mechanical work in the maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and wiring used in the City's Water/Wastewater facilities.
 

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Possession of a valid Journeyman Electrician's License issued by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board (PCLB) is preferred. 

Must obtain and maintain Journeyman Electrician’s License within 6 months of hire date.
Ability to obtain a forklift license.
 
Does this position require a Commercial Driver's License? Yes
Type: Obtain a Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) within their probationary period (6 months from hire date). Obtain and maintain Class A CDL within 1 year of hire date.
 
This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides: Electrical meters, testing & repair equipment, chop saw, drill motors, hammer drills, shovel, pick, hand wrenches, crane truck, portable lift station, vehicle, fork lift, phone, computer, and other equipment as assigned.
 
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D. Certificate AND one (1) year of vocational training. Possession of a valid Journeyman Electrician’s License issued by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board (PCLB) preferred. If candidate does not hold Journeyman Electrician’s License must possess prior experience that will qualify them to sit for the PCLB electrical journeyman’s test and pass it within 6 months of the date of hire.  Five (5) years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair plus two (2) years of experience in mechanical repair work, including electrically operated pumps; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

• Methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in electrical repair and maintenance
• Meters, gauges, telemetry systems, and other electronic communications equipment
• Project management
• Safety and hazard precautions related to electronics, water and wastewater
• Power tools and equipment
• Department policies and protocols
• Equipment maintenance practices and methods

 
Skill in –

• Inspecting, repairing, installing, and modifying electrical equipment
• Providing maintenance and repair for various electric needs
• Reading and interpreting manuals
• Electric codes and regulations
• Troubleshooting gauges, meters, and other communications systems
• Interpreting and applying codes, regulations, and standards
• Understanding and complying with oral and written instructions
• Using tact and independent judgment within established guidelines
