Information Services Consultant performs overall information systems planning, implementation, and administration in a variety of IT functional areas. Collaborates with end users to diagnose and resolve technical issues across different systems and technologies, including hardware, software, and networks. Being an Information Services Consultant analyzes business needs and contributes to the selection of IT hardware and software to support internal business processes. Maintains detailed documentation of methodologies, processes, and specifications of an organization's IT systems and assists with the planning and scheduling of IT initiatives. Additionally, Information Services Consultant installs and configures an organization's network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks and monitors network performance. Implements basic security measures to protect systems, networks, and data and ensures backup strategies and recovery plans are up to date. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Information Services Consultant work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. In this role, you will be responsible for sending, receiving, and processing messages and data on the Guard's sophisticated networks. You will also maintain and troubleshoot the systems that support the military's logistics and classified data, and build firewalls that can withstand any attempted cyberattack.


    Job Duties

    • Construct, edit, and test computer programs

    Job training for an Information Technology Specialist consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) with classroom instruction.
