    Description

    SNAP is seeking a qualified individual for an Information Specialist position to work in SNAP’s Community Action Core. This position is full-time and open to all qualified individuals.

    Interested applicants must submit a completed SNAP application and resume.

    Starting salary for this position is $17.09-$18.49 per hour DOE

    Full salary range is $17.09-$26.32 per hour

    Benefits include medical, dental, life, LTD, PTO and 403(b)

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Performs variety of clerical duties including but not limited to answering phones and greeting office visitors, scheduling appointments, filing and recordkeeping, drafting/finalizing all types of correspondence and documents, and entering data.
    2. Responds to requests for information by providing general program information and/or referrals to appropriate agencies. Maintains accurate records of social services and phone numbers for information and referral services.
    3. Assists with the client intake process, collecting clients’ confidential personal information. Enters information into database.
    4. Completes program-specific assignments as directed, such as word processing, maintaining calendar, keeping accurate ledgers, receipting money, printing purchase orders, creating certificates, and other related clerical activities.
    5. Compiles and maintains accurate files, reports, and statistics. Inputs appropriate data into computer.
    6. Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful, and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
    7. Prepares for meetings and classes by reserving rooms, coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and assisting with related functions.
    8. Orders office supplies and maintains adequate inventory.
    9. Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful and productive working environment, while protecting client and co-worker confidentiality.
    10. Within the context of the state principle job duties, serve as an ambassador of SNAP’s mission and values.
    11. Completes assigned projects and performs related duties as needed or situation dictates.
    12. Provides excellent customer service at all times as well as helps to grow the customer service culture within the agency.

     

    Qualifications


    Requirements:

    Education and Experience

    • Required: High School diploma or equivalent and three years experience in general office and clerical duties plus front office/desk exposure.
    • Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent and three years experience in social services administrative duties and one year reception or front desk exposure.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income households, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information.
    • General office skills, including working with multi-line phone system, computer operation, filing, and basic bookkeeping
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment with a diverse population
    • Proficient in computer operations including word processing, spreadsheets, and database; aptitude and ability to learn related technical skills
    • Ability to follow directions and work effectively work in an open, fast-paced, high-stress setting with frequent interruptions
    • Ability to communicate confidently, safely, and effectively with people in crisis situations
    • Good planning and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and communicate questions and concerns
    • Ability to work independently, using initiative and judgment to resolve problems and ensure workflow is appropriately addressed in a timely manner

    Work Environment/Physical Activities:

    Work is conducted in an office environment, in a front-desk location that can be highly stressful at times. Nature of program involves working with a variety of personalities, some in crisis situations, in a high-stress environment with frequent interruptions.
