Information Technology Supervisor supervises employees of the information technology department in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Information Technology Coordinator/Instructor

  • The Information Technology Coordinator/Instructor will be assigned to instruct students enrolled in the Ogden-Weber Technical College’s (OWTC) Information Technology Program. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical instruction in basic troubleshooting, system administration, networking fundamentals, cybersecurity, and other relevant technologies. The incumbent is expected to have a working knowledge of various operating systems, hardware and software troubleshooting, network concepts, scripting, cloud, virtualization, and cybersecurity practices. The incumbent should be familiar with current industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring the ability to deliver up-to-date and relevant instruction to students. Strong communication skills and the capacity to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles are also key attributes for success in this role. The incumbent will work closely with other program faculty members to support student success measures of completion, placement, and licensure.

    Additional responsibilities include developing partnerships with local employers and other educational partners in support of programmatic and student success. Curriculum and program development; completion of ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills. Maintain student records including verification of student attendance and competency completion, marketing college programs, serving on college teams, management of program budgets and faculty, and oversight of program assets.

    The incumbent works under the direction of the Program Director.

    1. Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records to include verification of attendance and competency completion.

    2. Develop new curriculum and instructional methodologies and/or maintain existing curriculum and instructional methodologies as it relates to industry trends.

    3. Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure.

    4. Advise students in the areas of program and college expectations, appropriate work behavior, and dress standards.

    5. Assist counselors, administration, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.

    6. Maintain contact with area employers; seek and implement feedback to continuously improve program curricula and training facilities to meet industry standards in support of completion, placement, and licensure.

    7. Complete assignments within established timelines, attend programmatic and college team meetings, college marketing events, and participate in programmatic accreditation.

    8. Attend occupational advisory committee meetings and college team meetings.

    9. Actively serve on college teams as assigned and participate in programmatic and college-wide marketing activities.

    10. Work cooperatively with the college community and with all college stakeholders. Represent the college community in a professional manner.

    11. Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Essential Coordinator/Instructor Functions:

    1. Continually evaluate program viability based on student success measures and work with program director and program faculty to initiate improvements.

    2. Coordinate student follow-up activities to meet programmatic goals for completion, placement, and licensure.

    3. Cultivate strong partnerships with local employers by maintaining regular contact with employers, recruiting new members, and fostering active participation from all members.

    4. Meet on a regular basis with salaried and hourly faculty and seek input and consensus on all aspects of the program.

    5. Meet with the program director on a regular basis to report feedback and make recommendations.

    6. Serve as intermediary in resolving programmatic, faculty, and student issues.

    7. Coordinate program schedules and salaried and hourly faculty schedules. Direct daily staffing requirements and scheduling of salaried and hourly instructors.

    8. Coordinate accreditation activities for program. Ensure that instructional content areas comply with College standards, and programmatic and/or institutional accreditation requirements.

    9. Coordinate occupational advisory committee meetings. Including recruiting new members.

    10. Train, supervise and provide regular evaluation of program faculty and provide input to program director on faculty performance.

    11. Direct the development of professional development plans for salaried and hourly faculty based on programmatic goals.

    12. Assist in the development of the annual program budget. Monitor budget and control expenses. Control the use of equipment and supplies.

    13. Other responsibilities as assigned.


    Education and Experience Required:

    1. A minimum of six years of a combination of related work experience and post-secondary education in the information technology field to include a minimum of two years full-time professional paid employment.

    2. Proficient in various operating systems, hardware and software troubleshooting, network concepts, scripting, cloud, virtualization, and cybersecurity practices Preference will be given to those individuals that hold A , Network , Security and Microsoft certifications.

    3. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications as well as other computer software applications.

    Education and Experience Preferred:

    1. An associate degree or higher in information technology or information technology related field is preferred

    2. Leadership and/or supervisory experience preferred

    3. Experience in teaching and/or curriculum development preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc.

    2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

    Working Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
