Job Description: Consortium Media Specialist
SUMMARY: The role of the IMESD Consortium Media Specialist is to support districts in providing a certified
library/media specialist to oversee their media program to meet state requirements, as well as manage a regional
digital library resource.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility and essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individual will hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable, insured transportation for travel within the IMESD Region.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience, preferred
- Instructional technology integration skills and experience preferred
- Library/Media Certification required
SKILLS:
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a high-energy environment
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Oregon Rule #581-022-2340 “Media Programs”
- Excellent Computer Skills; including ability to learn new programs and platforms quickly and facilitate others’ learning of these tools and programs

- Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, independent judgment and aptitude for handling and processing privileged information with professional integrity

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and oversee IMESD consortia library program encompassing up to all component school districts (currently 18)
- Non-evaluative supervision of district “media managers” across IMESD component district schools, both elementary and secondary
- Facilitation of media PLC in fall and spring
- Ongoing virtual support for districts and media staff, as-needed
- Collaboration with IMESD’s School Improvement department to support and partner across curriculum adoption and implementation efforts
- Collaboration with IMESD’s School Improvement and IT departments to support adoption and implementation of new technology resources
- Provide informational evaluation to schools and districts on their media programs
- Advise districts on media spaces and facilities; library structure and setup
- Develop, implement and maintain up-to-date information on media programs
- Design and share instructional materials/activities for all grade levels aligned to meet program goals
- Organize and review print and digital materials
- Curate and research new resources, keeping up with trends in media and text
- Manage the regional digital library resource
EVALUATION
This position will be evaluated according to IMESD’s evaluation criteria for licensed staff
and will report to the Director of School Improvement
