    Reports to: Dean of Education (DOE)

    Status: Exempt

    Employment Type: Full-time


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    Canvas Administration:

    • Learning Management System (LMS) administrator including all LMS administration duties
    • Serve as one of the main points of contact with faculty, students, and staff for Canvas LMS issues and training
    • Copy master course content into term specific course shells in the LMS and configure according to the specifications and needs of the school
    • Master courses and prepare term sections to ensure the courses are error free and prepared correctly
    • Complete edits to courses in Canvas, at the direction of the Dean of Education
    • Proactively identify and solve any student and/or instructor LMS issues or concerns
    • Work with IT Department to ensure that courses are imported correctly from the Student Information System into Canvas

    Curriculum Administration:

    • Collaborate with the Dean and Associate Deans of Education to create and implement an efficient course development process
    • Work directly with Subject Matter Experts on course creation and course updates including following up on assigned curriculum tasks
    • Stay up to date with industry certification changes and updates (ex: CompTIA, AWS, and Cisco, etc.)
    • Maintain current list of curriculum, syllabi, and textbooks
    • Proactively identify and solve any curriculum administration issues or concerns
    • Work on additional projects as assigned

    Teaching:

    • Available to teach live online and asynchronously
    • Available to provide coverage when needed
    • Current certification(s) in subjects taught
    • Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize online student learning and engagement
    • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
    • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
    • Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops

    Adhering to College Policies and Procedures:

    • Provide regular updates to the Dean of Education on the progress of the term preparation and curriculum tasks
    • Maintain compliance with accreditation related to instructional and the quality of education
    • Promote collaboration with other staff members and participate in the implementation of new projects, ideas, etc.

    Requirements

    • Three years of Canvas Administration experience in a Higher Education environment preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • At least three years’ experience in the IT field OR two years of experience teaching IT classes preferred
    • IT certifications preferred
    • Curriculum development experience preferred
    • High level of flexibility, creativity and dependability
    • Extreme attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Familiarity with CSS and HTML
    • Effective presentation skills
    • Effective communication and technology skills
    • Possess highly ethical standards
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as learning technologies such as Canvas and Teams
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to multitask
    • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
    • Problem solves rapidly and effectively, in a timely manner
    • Able to work a 40-hour plus workweek, if needed depending on schedule and coverage
    • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to coworkers from other departments

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are usually Monday through Friday, but weekend and evening hours may be required.

    • Sedentary work. Essential functions of this role require sitting for extended periods of time
    • Ability to type, use a computer to search for information and input information while speaking on the phone is required
    • The employee will frequently be required to use the computer, mouse and telephone to conduct the regular tasks of this role
    • The employee will be required to compute simple to simple mathematical calculations as a normal part of this role
