Instructor - Civil Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of civil engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Civil Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Civil Engineering typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Our Fort Wayne Office is a vibrant mix of experienced and developing talent serving NE Indiana and the great Fort Wayne metropolitan area. Our local staff includes expertise in public works projects serving city, county, and DOT clients, as well as providing resources to projects across our company.


    A Typical Day May Include

    • Leading project design calculations/reports/planning preparation/roadway modeling
    • Assisting office leadership in the preparation of proposal documents and preliminary project evaluations
    • Developing peer network with staff at other firms and public agencies to enhance personal and firm relationships during project coordination efforts
    • Coordinating project tasks and reporting to project manager and supervisory staff to assist in budget, schedule, and project status tracking
    • Supporting Indianapolis and regional offices on a variety of infrastructure projects

    What We're Looking For

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
    • Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training in Indiana
    • Experience designing transportation projects
    • Background working on INDOT, county, and municipal transportation design projects
    • Technical knowledge/ computer skills:
      • ACAD Civil 3D / MicroStation Bentley Open Roads Designer
      • Drainage software including StormCAD and CDSS
      • Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
      • Adobe

    Work Environment and Conditions

    This position requires ability to work independently, within a team, and with all levels of management in a fast-paced environment, effectively communicating, resolving problems and prioritizing tasks.

    This position will work in the Fort Wayne, Indiana office and include potential remote work, to be coordinated with supervisor. Field work will be required and might involve exposure to the elements. A valid driver's license is required as work-related travel may happen from time to time using personal and/or company vehicles. Mileage will be reimbursed if using a personal vehicle.
