Experience- Verifiable experience working with children (e.g., daycare, Sunday school, sports, girls/boy scouts)
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Assist the teacher with instruction including preparing instructional materials and working in small groups or with individual students.
- Support student specific communication needs according to the specifications in the students Individualized Education Plan.
- Reinforce appropriate behavior in accordance with classroom discipline expectations and behavior management as developed by the ARD committee, and school plan.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, inside classroom, in the lunchroom, and outside the classroom during arrival and dismissal.
- Assist with in-class support in the self-contained setting or the general education setting.
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems, including behavior, of individual students.
- Administer to students with severe physical handicaps by lifting, feeding, cleaning, maintaining hygiene, and any other personal services that the student requires.
- Responsible for use of safe procedures of physical intervention with acting-out students.
- Assist in preparing, modifying, or adapting teaching materials or equipment to individual needs of students.
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy

- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e., email, written, and verbal).
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
