College Physics and Astronomy Adjunct
Salary: $875 per credit hour

Classes: PHY 1105 Tuesday/Thursday 12:50-3:15, AST 1140 Monday/Wednesday 11:35a-12:45p

- Use/provide the syllabus adopted by partnering community college courses
- Create a classroom culture of high academic expectations, diligence and mutual respect
- Provide effective instruction to help students achieve mastery of course content and skills
- Monitor student achievement and communicate with the advising team to ensure adequate progression towards course objectives and provides support as needed
- Communicate student achievement and academic progress to families
- Prioritize the safety and welfare of students while on campus
- Supervise students outside of the classroom as needed
- Be committed to and guided by CEC’s mission statement
- Display a high level of ethics and professionalism in working with students, staff members and parents
- Strive to develop appropriate relationships with students
- Continue to grow as an educator by attending professional development opportunities and mandatory staff meetings
- Become adept at using Infinite Campus and D2L to consistently record grades and attendance
- Apply for substitutes according to protocol
- Substitute teach as needed
- Keep the students in class for the full required time
- Participate in state test administration
- Participate in Staff and team meetings
- Other duties as requested
Education/Training
- Master’s Degree in education or core subject area, or to be deemed highly qualified according to CDE requirements.
- Credentialed to teach PHY 105 and AST 155
- Appropriate State certification
- Be familiar with and understand of the CEC student handbook
- Understand and use Infinite Campus/D2L
- Able to relate to and communicate with adolescents and their parents or guardians
- Effective communicator in both oral and written form
- Able to prioritize workload
- Able to relate to and communicate with adolescents and their parents or guardians
- Effective communicator in both oral and written form
- Able to prioritize workload
- Experience in education preferred
- Experience with adolescents preferred
