    Howmet Aerospace is currently looking an Instrumental Technician to join our Dover Casting group in Dover , New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon shift are Monday - Friday 2:30p - 11:00p. Train on !st Shift

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Calibrate various instruments throughout the plant. Repair and maintain same instruments. Repair other electronic equipment. Train new employees when necessary.

    ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Expected to assist in the implementation of Alcoa/Howmet’s EHS value and policy statement and it’s accompanying principles.
    • Compile with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
    • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
    • Report all job related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
    • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Attend all EH&S training.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Selects, installs, calibrates, and checks sensing, telemetering, and recording instrumentation and circuitry, and develops specifications for nonstandard apparatus according to engineering data, characteristics of equipment under test, and capabilities of procurable test apparatus.
    • Troubleshoots control logic through PLC interface using software to isolate and repair fault conditions.
    • Must be able to perform the duties of “A” Electrician.
    • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
    • Uses computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce graphs.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Have good mechanical aptitude and able to use hand tools.
    • Able to troubleshoot simple circuits.
    • Read both mechanical and electronical drawings.
    • Conduct equipment surveys and data collections.
    • Conduct P.M.’s which are related to instrumentation.
    • Must keep accurate records of calibrations in accordance with predetermined ISO and customer specifications.
    • Must properly complete and abide to all Safety Procedures and Training Classes provided as standard to all maintenance colleagues with in the department.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
    • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
    • This position requires a minimum of an associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent from two-year college/technical school, or equivalent military experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors, and customers.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Understanding and experience with thermocouples, vacuum, gauges, humidity, tachometers, pressure gauges, and equipment diagnostic instrumentation.
    • Basic understanding of microprocessors, robotics, industrial maintenance, burners and furnace controls.
    • Computer literate.
    • This position requires a minimum of three to five years related experience and/or training.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
