Our pilots need effective, realistic training to prepare for the threats they face today - and those they may have to face tomorrow.

    That is what we work toward every day in the Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) department. We are dedicated to revolutionizing airborne pilot training for U.S. Navy and Air Force next-generation fighter jets. Our flagship product, the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II), is an on-aircraft, in-flight training system that provides unmatched operational realism to our nation's top-tier fighter pilots. We are a system of systems development team that designs, integrates, and supports some of the largest, most complex solutions offered by Collins Aerospace.

    As a Systems Engineer on our Integration and Range Deployment team, you will work closely with a motivated and passionate team of experts to develop, test, enhance, maintain, and deploy these advanced training systems. This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the evolution of fighter pilot training and make a difference. This role is located onsite at our Cedar Rapids, IA site.

    Please note that eligible candidates must live within a commutable distance of Cedar Rapids, IA to work an onsite schedule. This position is eligible for relocation benefits for qualified candidates.

    What you will DO:
    • You will work hands-on with state-of-the-art technology in cryptography, datalinks, navigation, communication, networking and command and control.
    • You will have the opportunity to travel to military sites to support lab testing, flight testing, and range installations, and range deployments.
    • You will lead project teams and efforts.
    • You will deploy and test software builds on real TCTS II hardware.
    • You will collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
    • You will analyze and resolve system issues, ensuring systems are ready for deployment to military sites.
    • You will work on realistic and high-fidelity simulations for a variety of fighter jet scenarios.
    • You will serve as an expert resource on system operation and functionality for other teams in the department.

    • You will gain experience in multiple in-demand domains including networking messages, GPS, cryptography, and radios.
    • You will gain industry experience working through the complete development lifecycle of planning, development, verification, certification, and product deployment.
    • You will get exposure to Agile methodology and industry standards.
    • You will take flight to career tracks that will enable you to be a highly effective individual contributor, an expert in your field or even a business leader. Depending on your goals and desires, we have varying runways you can take off from.


    Education and Experience:
    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience (excluding internships) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
    • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead project teams.
    • Experience with at least one software development languages such as C , Python, or Java.
    • Experience with hardware, software, or systems-level testing
    • Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and effectively.
    • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with limited guidance.


    Skills We Value

    The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
