About the Job:
CIMA is searching for Referral Coordinator. Our referral coordinators ensure that referral orders are scheduled accurately and timely, and are authorized by the patient's health plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies referral orders with physicians and nurses to ensure patient is scheduled for the appropriate appointment/testing in a timely manner.
- Processes all referral/pre-certification/pre-determination requests to ensure referral services are authorized by patient’s health plan..
- Informs physicians and nurses immediately when referral/testing is not authorized by patient’s health plan in order to determine alternative treatment for patient.
- Schedules and coordinates patient referral appointments to ensure all appropriate documentation has been received by the provider and the patient is scheduled in the required timeframe, and as ordered by the physician.
- Ensures patient referrals, orders and testing results are documented appropriately in order to maintain accurate patient medical records.
- Follows up with patients, physicians, service providers, health plans and others to ensure appropriate medical documentation has been received by the practice and the patient is provided appropriate treatment within required timeframe.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Medical office experience: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer service experience: At least 2 years (required)
