Who Are We?
Lance’s Trailer Sales is a tight-knit company made up of some genuinely talented individuals. We’re a small, family-owned niche trailer business located in Athens, Ohio. We love to help our guests get out on the road, happy and safe. There are about 7 of us now, but we’d like to add a few more friendly faces!
What do we do?
We are a specialty equipment dealership that primarily sells and services new and used horse and livestock trailers. We also carry some premium dump, cargo, and utility trailer brands as well – simply put, we have something for everyone! Some of our customers are from the local community and others drive hundreds of miles to do business with us!
Who are you?
You have some formal experience in sales and/or F&I. You pick up on things and learn quickly. You are experienced at reading people and can connect with anyone on a personal level – after all, we all have something in common! You are positive, friendly, a team player, and are excited about communicating with potential customers on the phone, via email, or in person. You are detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated. Procrastinating on a difficult task doesn’t make sense to you, because you’re going to have to do it eventually anyways… If there is a slow period at work, you look for ways to fill it that help move the company towards its goals.

What kind of stuff will I be doing?
You will be following a basic sales process to help match customers with the trailer that will best fit their needs. In the beginning, a lot of your time will be spent learning about our products and the ways that customers use them. We’ll also help you get licensed with the state of Ohio as a vehicle salesperson if you are not already (this process requires fingerprinting and a background check from the state). Much of our time is spent corresponding with potential customers by phone, text, email, or in person. Periodically, you will get to work at a trade event or show and unfortunately sometimes these take place on weekends and away from home. We do about 5-6 shows per year with Quarter Horse Congress being the biggest and longest.
What are the pay and benefits?
This position is large-ticket retail sales-based, and base wage for this role is $15.00 / hour, plus team-based commissions based on unit volume and sale price. Using our historical pay data, a very conservative estimate of total annual pay (base wage team commission) should land in the 50k-52k range depending on our performance. Hourly wages and the Team Commissions are paid bi-weekly. We also offer a benefits package that includes a large contribution towards health insurance, and paid time off.
