Being an Investment Specialist monitors and analyzes portfolio performance, asset allocation, and risk exposure to ensure alignment with the organization's investment objectives, strategies, and risk tolerance levels. TITLE: Environmental Health Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Environmental Health
POSITITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, the Environmental Health Specialist conducts various environmental health program activities. Environmental health programs include: food service sanitation, sewage disposal, water supplies, radon, vector surveillance, tobacco, lead, body art, tanning, solid waste, and nuisance control. Expected schedule Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the physical and/or biological sciences
· Requires a current and valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and proof of auto insurance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner
· Licensed Lead Risk Assessor
· Experience with and knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental health and public health laws and regulations
· Experience conducting environmental health regulatory assessments and inspections at regulated entities
· Experience writing inspection reports and communications to the public and regulated entities
· Experience using Microsoft 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Conducts environmental health program activities including, but not limited to, inspections of food establishments, private sewage disposal systems, private and non-community water wells, tanning and body art facilities, and solid waste haulers
· Conducts vector surveillance activities including but not limited to collecting/testing mosquitoes for West Nile virus, collecting/submitting ticks for disease testing and identification
· Assists with lead risk assessments in homes of children with elevated blood lead levels
· Prepares and submits samples of water, food, etc., for laboratory analysis
· Prepares activity reports and records of inspections, investigations, and correspondence
· Communicates local, state, and federal rules and regulations to the public and regulated entities; offers guidance on sanitation practices and principles to assure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
· Performs other duties as required or assigned
