Job Title: Database Administrator (Expert)

Location: Schenectady, NY

Job Type: Contract (W2 only)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Database team with various ongoing tasks, including database installation, configuration, hardening, backup validation, performance tuning, and general database monitoring. Additionally, the candidate will provide support to Application Development staff and handle requests and incidents submitted through ITSM tickets.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Database team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to database installation, configuration, and hardening, backup validation, performance tuning, and general database monitoring. Recommend best practices and procedures.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases on AIX, including backup and recovery.
• Allocate storage and plan future storage requirements for the database system.
• Work with teams of application programmers and system architects to create solutions to meet business goals.
• Perform off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed for emergency or maintenance tasks.
• Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners.
• Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs, and modifying resource allocations as needed.
• Provide recommendations on technical architecture.
• Provide recommendations on Oracle Advanced Security, including TDE, Oracle Wallet, and remote authentication.
• Provide hands-on training and mentoring for other database administrative staff.
• Provide support to Application Development staff.
• Handle Requests and Incidents submitted through ITSM tickets.

Qualifications:

• 7 yrs. of experience as an Oracle DBA in AIX/Unix environment.
• 5 yrs. of experience installing/maintaining/tuning databases supporting OBIEE and Oracle Business Intelligence Application software.
• 7 yrs. of experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM), Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle Database Security.
• 7 yrs. of experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), including Backup and Repository Configuration & Maintenance, and Implementation of RMAN Backup & Recovery using Commvault.
• 7 yrs. of experience installing, upgrading, patching, and using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to monitor and analyze database issues and find solutions to correct the problems.
• 2 yrs. of experience maintaining Oracle databases on AIX supporting SAP Business Object Info View, and applications that use Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
