IT Capacity Planner evaluates the organization's data processing and storage needs and develops long-term plans to meet business requirements. Implements policies for network storage system troubleshooting, updating and general maintenance. Being an IT Capacity Planner documents problems and solutions and serves as the point of contact for network capacity related issues. Allocates storage space, plans for future projects or acquisitions, reviews hardware and software configurations and makes suggestions for appropriate storage or backup models. Additionally, IT Capacity Planner may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager. To be an IT Capacity Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     This position will be based at Tinker AFB, OK.


    Responsibilities:


    The Project Task Manager will be familiar with Information Technology (IT) concepts, practices and procedures and work with customer counterparts to plan, coordinate and manage the execution and implementation of IT/communications plans and programs, memorandum of agreements (MOA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other agreements. Responsibilities for managing contracts and logistics management capabilities for organizational systems will also be required. Specific responsibilities will include:

    • IT Planning
      • Support IT Enterprise architecture planning, engineering, project management and configuration management to include requirement for maintaining efficient use of network devices, such as switches, routers, and TACLANES for the customers.
      • Document the approved requirements process in the Concept of Operations (CONOPs) and provide education and training on the requirements process to customers.
      • Evaluate existing projects/requirements and make recommendations to customers as to which should be continued.
      • Upon customer approval and provision of funding, continue processing and implementation of existing projects/requirements.
      • Share responsibility for Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs), Standard Operating Agreements (SOAs), and other agreements with government employees.
    • Project Management/Requirements Processing
      • Process and track customer requirements, engineer solutions and manage project implementation according to customer-established instructions and guidelines.
      • Develop/Manage Enterprise Master Integrated Schedule, tracking milestones, major projects, completion dates (i.e., Microsoft Project Management type program (Gantt charts)).
      • Produce Implementation Plan for approved projects and programs.
      • Implement Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Process to support organizational increase on high reliable IT services. This effort can provide: reduced costs, improved IT services through the use of proven best practice processes, and improved customer satisfaction through a more professional approach to service delivery.
    • New Technologies - incorporate innovative and emerging technologies that, in the most economic and efficient manner, improve not only IT system performance and support but also mission performance.
      • Implement the approved plans and add metrics for technology insertion.
      • Coordinate of detailed proposals for implementation of new technologies required for appropriate approval and funding authorities.
      • Minimize energy consumption to meet percentage reduction requirements.
      • Follow applicable environmental energy efficiency guidelines when purchasing new hardware or electronic equipment.
      • Follow applicable environmental guidelines when disposing of hardware or electronic equipment.
      • Coordinate initial design plans with other affected installation communities (i.e. - civil engineers) to ensure compliance with environmental and energy guidelines.



    Qualifications:

    • An active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
    • The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.
    • Associate’s Degree (preferred) in a related field or the equivalent combination of related education, professional training or work experience (4 years).
    • 4 years of experience in IT Project Management (preferably in Air Force environment).
    • ITIL Foundation certification is preferred.
    • Proficient in MS Office tools, including MS Project.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Self-starter – requires little supervision.
    • Ability to work well with others.
    • Knowledge of common base-level (Air Force) communication and IT systems desired.
    • Familiarity with Air Force Instructions (17 and 33 series) desired, especially 33-103 and 33-104.
    • Incumbents only.
